Anita was introduced to the social care sector in 2013 by her husband, Anvish Goyal — co-founder and chair of Championing Social Care. Taking her position as Organising Committee member, Anita’s objective in the charity is to raise the profile of social care to the next level.
The charity sees social care as not only important but essential. Championing Social Care is focused on delivering stories within the sector to amplify the value these carers have, so their work doesn’t go unnoticed and unrewarded.
Within her role in the charity, Anita was instrumental in organising two successful Care Sector Fundraising Balls. These groundbreaking events were the first annual dedicated fundraisers within the care home industry, raising £348,000 for the Care Workers Charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK, and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Her efforts also include raising awareness and understanding of dementia within diverse communities. Research shows that the likelihood of different ethnic groups developing dementia varies, with minority groups more likely to develop the disease. By influencing this crucial research, Anita hopes to promote additional support for communities more at risk, as well as establishing new treatments.
